NSC Advanced Armors

These NSC advanced armors are levels 6-10 of the standard vanilla armors set plus two unique levels for unique armors found in-game, along with tweaks to certain vanilla armor’s names/descriptions and an icon overhaul to make the entire set feel natural and more in-line with a natural armor progression.

These armors are part of the NSC Component Feature, which is mainly intended for NSC players who do not use NHunter’s Extra Ship ComponentsTFW’s Bunch of Ship Parts, or Guilliman’s Crystallis. A pop-up message at game start will inform you if you have any of these mods active in your game, and depending on their presence, will give a recommendation, but the choice of whether you want the NSC Components is yours. If you decide to accept the NSC Components, this decision is permanent, however, if you decline, you can always active them later by selecting the appropriate option from the NSC Features Menu. However, whether you accept or decline, the level 6 & 7 NSC Reactors will automatically be available due to the power demands of NSC Ship Classes.

For those of you who do not like the icon changes because you don’t use the NSC Component Feature due to another component mod or just personal taste, a new addon will be made available to restore the original vanilla icons for those who want those instead.

NSC Armor tiers do not follow the same progression as vanilla armor teirs, as NSC armors give more value per upgrade at cost than vanilla ones. Furthermore, NSC Armors provide HP bonuses as well as damage reduction from armor, however, because HP is the “end all be all” of ship defense, as the HP provided by the higher armor tier grows, the damage reduction from armor gets lower as a counterbalance.

In addition to adding 5 new “regular” armor tiers, NSC also adapted the names/descriptions of certain vanilla armors to help make the progression from levels 1-10 feel natural. With this in mind, the following vanilla armors had their names and descriptions changed/switched:

Nanocomposite Armor (Level 1) –> Gel-Suspended Armor
Neutronium Armor (Level 5) –> Description Tweaked

 

Ablative Neutronium Armor (Level 6):

“This neutronium armor has been upgraded with ablative properties, adding additional protection from incoming fire by vaporization, chipping, or other erosive processes.”

Component Stats:

  • Small Armor: Provides 6.79 Armor & 1% HP boost for the cost of 7.2 Minerals
  • Medium Armor: Provides 14.28 Armor & 1% HP boost for the cost of 11.7 Minerals
  • Large Armor: Provides 30.38 Armor & 1% HP boost for the cost of 20.7 Minerals

Research Requirements:

  • Neutronium Armor
  • Ablative Neutronium Armor

 

Reactive Nanocomposite Armor (Level 7):

“We have developed a new generation of armor protection, using nanite technology made from sturdy elements combined with precision sensors to acquire and react to incoming fire, making the armor more dense where required for better protection.”

Component Stats:

  • Small Armor: Provides 5.88 Armor & 1.3% HP boost for the cost of 8.5 Minerals
  • Medium Armor: Provides 12.39 Armor & 1.3% HP boost for the cost of 13.5 Minerals
  • Large Armor: Provides 26.46 Armor& 1.3% HP boost for the cost of 23.5 Minerals

Neutronium Nanocomposite Armor (Level 8):

“Newly developed techniques allow us to now construct nanites out of much stronger and more dense materials, allowing us to have a neutronium based nanocomposite armor that can not only react well, but hold up under extreme firepower.”

Component Stats:

  • Small Armor: Provides 4.9 Armor & 1.7% HP boost for the cost of 10 Minerals
  • Medium Armor: Provides 10.29 Armor & 1.7% HP boost for the cost of 15.5 Minerals
  • Large Armor: Provides 21.98 Armor & 1.7% HP boost for the cost of 26.5 Minerals

Anti-Neutronium Nanocomposite Armor (Level 9):

“Combining antimatter reactions in with the reactive neutronium nanites allows our armor to adapt more quickly to incoming barrages, and gives the armor the added bonus of being somewhat ablative to incoming fire.”

Component Stats:

  • Small Armor: Provides 3.85 Armor & 2.2% HP boost for the cost of 11.9 Minerals
  • Medium Armor: Provides 8.05 Armor & 2.2% HP boost for the cost of 17.9 Minerals
  • Large Armor: Provides 17.15 Armor & 2.2% HP boost for the cost of 29.9 Minerals

Gravi-Forged Nanocomposite Armor (Level 10):

“This next generation armor is specially forged by first applying a low gravity field to evenly distribute a think layer of neutronium armor, then using high intensity gravity fields to compress the neutronium into an ultra-dense form. Applying the reactive neutronium nanites as a top layer, this armor holds the best of both worlds, making it extremely difficult to penetrate.”

Component Stats:

  • Small Armor: Provides 2.8 Armor & 2.8% HP boost for the cost of 14 Minerals
  • Medium Armor: Provides 5.81 Armor & 2.8% HP boost for the cost of 20.5 Minerals
  • Large Armor: Provides 12.32 Armor & 2.8% HP boost for the cost of 33.5 Minerals

Optimized Adaptive Dragon Armor (Unique):

“Combining our own advancements in neutronium and nanite based armors with the incredible setup of the Ether Drake Dragon Scales, we now have an armor that is completely flexible yet as hard as Gravi-Forged Neutronium, combined with reactive nanites and antimatter reactions for ablative support, this armor is the definition of protection.”

Component Stats:

  • Small Armor: Provides 1.82 Armor & 3.6% HP boost for the cost of 16.6 Minerals
  • Medium Armor: Provides 3.71 Armor & 3.6% HP boost for the cost of 23.6 Minerals
  • Large Armor: Provides 7.91 Armor & 3.6% HP boost for the cost of 37.6 Minerals

NOTICE: This armor requires both the Gravi-Forged Nanocomposite Armor (Level 10) and the Dragon Scale Armor technology only available through the Ether Drake, thus this component requires the Leviathans DLC to be discovered and function.
